Biomechanics is the study of the forces that act on a body and the effects they produce. It is an intersection of biology, physiology, anatomy, physics, mathematics, and chemistry to solve difficult problems in medicine and health.

One-Handed Syringe

Two medical students get their hands on an advanced prototype of a new syringe invented at UNMC. The students demonstrate how the new syringe improves the current standard of care for injections in the eye, but the syringe has a wide range of potential applications.

Self-Pacing Treadmill

Researchers at the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s world-class biomechanics department developed the first self-pacing treadmill, which is now the cornerstone of an Omaha startup company, Impower Health, Inc.
